UK & Ireland:

  • The BBC have recently announced that they are to be spending a considerable sum of money of arts programming. This begs the question, will the programs be primarily London-centric? More discussion here:
  • The Museums Association have released a review of the ‘Future of Museums’ conference. This conference was held in London at the start of April.
  • The GEM (Group for Education in Museums) Annual Conference is to be held in Cambridge from 2 – 4th September. There is an early bird discount if you book by May 31s.
  • The Museums & Heritage Show is on at the Kensington Olympia on the 14th & 15th May.  Best of all it is FREE to attend!
  • Mid-Antrim museum has been awarded a 178,000 Heritage Lottery Grant for their  ‘On the Brink,’ project. It is a three year project to research the legacy of WW1, The Easter Rising and The Battle of the Somme.


  • Police in Italy have uncovered two paintings stolen from London in 1970 in a retired ford worker’s house!
  • Museum professionals in America baffled as to who a man in thousands of ‘Selfie’ pictures taken between the 1930’s – 1960’s is.
