Hello! And welcome to this bumper edition of ‘The Sunday Supplement.’ There was no Saturday/Sunday Supplement last week as I was in England for work/research/fun. U.K. & Ireland
- This week has been #MuseumWeek on Twitter! Each day there will be a new theme and new hash tag to follow. Monday was #MuseumMastermind – museums asking questions about their collections. Tuesday was #MuseumMemories – people tweeting museums about their memories of the museums. - The BBC are launching their new Arts strategy during the ‘Museums At Night Festival 2014’ on May 15th – 17th.The BBC shall cover the festival in an hour long programme on May 17th on BBC2. There shall be also coverage on Radio, The One Show and other media outlets. http://bit.ly/1iGGrpo
- The National Railway Museum of York announces cuts to it’s world class ‘Search Engine’ Railway archive & library. http://bit.ly/1i14kGg
- Edinburgh’s Museum of Childhood is to get a £2.5 million revamp. http://bit.ly/1eYR46p
- Archaeological finds are ‘dumped’ in warehouses throughout Ireland. Unsorted and not conserved, these artefacts could be dumped or even worse deteriorate. More info here: http://bbc.in/1dA9Xyn

- The Women’s Library re-opens in the London School of Economics (LSE) after being re-located from the London Metropolitan University. Personally, I think, the original building housing the collection was better than it’s new location! http://bit.ly/1o725Zq

- ICOM (International Council of Museums) have launched ‘The ICOM International Training Centre for Museum Studies,’ in Beijing, China. The aim of the training centre is to bring together international museum professionals to train them in modern museum practice and for them to collaborate with fellow museum professionals. http://bit.ly/QmI6ao
- A new exhibition in Stockholm, lets visitors virtually ‘unwrap’ a mummy! Not for the faint hearted! http://bit.ly/1hScOPV
- Paul Orselli at Exhibition Tricks blog talks about using ‘Charettes’ as a creative tool. ‘Charettes’ i.e. Chariots or Groups of people (often from outside the Museum sector) come together to brainstorm a fixed idea (exhibition, event, display etc.) and create a new and different approach to the fixed idea. http://bit.ly/1l9Jbg3
- Jamie Glavic, of the blog ‘Museum Minute,’ has wrote about her experience of ‘Hacking the Museum’ at the Metropolitan Museum of Art NYC or ‘The Met.’ The ‘Hacking the Museum’ tour is a new and fun way to tour a museum. You meet with random strangers and are led around the exhibits and are asked to interact with them.
